DISAPPOINTED and very annoyed. Defective lid/pot fit; had to return.
I ordered this directly from calphalon.com to avoid any concern about quality, but it arrived defective. The lid is not even close to fitting properly. I am disappointed because this was supposed to be a replacement for a much-used and loved Calphalon pan that had a nonstick surface that was worn out from so much use. I'm getting a refund from Calphalon and am off to find something in a brick and mortar store that I can inspect before I buy.
Not Your Average Calphalon
After I ruined my older Calphalon Dutch oven keeping warm during Sandy, I immediately wanted to reorder the pot. Unfortunately, the exact pot I ruined is no longer being manufactured. So, I searched and researched and then decided to buy this version, whichI thought looked nicer. OK, not a great criteria for buying cookware, but other than looks it seemed to be on a par with my other Calphalon pots and pans. It is a good pot but it is not great. It is not as heavy as my other Calphalon. In fact, it feels cheesy light. Considering how much this piece of cookware costs, this makes me feels as if my pocket has been picked. My recommendation: buy a different version of this Dutch oven from Calphalon or go to another manufacturer.
Pretty pot, but not practical
Attractive bronze color. Also spaghetti fits without having to break spaghetti strands in half. However, lid does not fit well at all (after a few uses, it pops up after pushing it down) and even minimal contact with metal utensils leave marks on the nonstick surface.
